Mark Cox has been working on projects since 1983. “I have been working with wood for as long as I can remember,” Cox says. “I have built my own furniture on several occasions. I found after using my router table and hand held routers for several years that a CNC machine will do so much easier and more precise than I could by hand. I purchased my CNC machine four years ago and have loved every minute of using it. I have created several heirlooms for friends and family that cannot be store-bought. The next adventure came with the laser. I found out I could engrave on most anything imaginable. Over time, I have been asked by several people why I don’t do it for a living; after all, it is something I love doing. So here I am in the next chapter of my life. Etching and engraving is one area in which Mark Cox has a great deal of experience, and all of the company’s projects are completed with great attention to detail. Engraving is done using a spring loaded diamond engraving bit. This allows engravers to work on sheets of acrylic up to 36 by 50 inches with relative ease. Mark Cox offers a number of other services involving a variety of materials. CNC wood services are one of the areas in which Mark Cox specializes. CNC wood services are done when machining and carving is used with wood machining bits in a motor that is controlled by a computer. CNC machines can produce carvings up to 3” thick, and Mark Cox has access to thousands of different fonts and graphics.
“I have access to all the NFL teams and college teams,” says Cox. “If you look at some of my photos, you will see a lot of pine wood and some walnut. Every wood will stain and paint differently. The projects that you see can be shipped finished or unfinished for you to decorate as you want. Some larger wood signs may be made out of plywood and wrapped in lumber to hide the edges or they may be glued up panels if no lumber border is wanted.”
Another area in which Mark Cox specializes is lasering. Using a diode laser, Mark Cox Woodworking can work on most items. He primarily utilizes a small laser on a 12 by 12 inch platform.
