Mark Cox Woodworking, based in Fort Myers, has just announced that they are now accepting projects to be facilitated by their CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine. The company is able to create signs, detailed carvings, and even business cards on aluminum or acrylic.
Mr. Cox said, “I have always done woodworking and I have made my own furniture on many occasions. A lot of people who saw the results of my labors said, ‘Why don’t you go into business and let others profit from your skills? You can make something you love doing pay for itself.’ I gave it some thought and decided to take the plunge and do exactly that.”
Mr. Cox has been working with wood and making items and furniture as far back as he can remember. “I would like to think that all the visitors to our website enjoy seeing the items that we have created and produced. I hope they enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them,” he added.
People have indeed enjoyed Mr. Cox’s work and have been very enthusiastic about all of his creations. There are many photographs on the company’s website not only of the lasered work that he has done but also examples of the carving and etching that are possible with the CNC machine. One happy client said, “We had Mark engrave a large piece of acrylic with our logo and a short story about the history of our company, Cape Coral Plumbing. He took our idea and designed the piece for us. After several revisions, his knowledge led us to the final piece, and we are extremely happy. We will definitely recommend him to our clients. The LED lights are amazing.”
Wood carvings are only a part of the services that Mark Cox woodworking offers, however. “We can also do lasering on many different surfaces,” Mr. Cox said because my laser has a 12” x 12” base and it is capable of marking and engraving on any wood, but it can also be used on other materials such as slate, cardboard gift boxes, cork, and leather. Even other materials can be considered depending on their construction. Lasering makes things personal and unforgettable. If you look at the photos on the website you will see pictures of aluminum business cards that I have lasered for companies to keep and hand to out to their top clients.”
Mr. Cox suggested that if potential clients have an item that they would like to have etched with the laser they can send him a picture through the website and he will reply as to whether he can work with that particular item or not.
Although aluminum and leather are popular choices for etching a surprising number of people are choosing to have their iPhone cases etched with their own personal creation. Several examples of that kind of work are available on the website as well. Whether it is a small item like an iPhone case or a full-sized company sign, Mark Cox Woodworking can deal with it. The platform on the engraving machine measures 36 by 50 inches. “Nearly all signs will not be a problem for us to carve or etch,” Mr. Cox said.
Cox has created some very unusual items as well. One client wrote, “My husband surprised me with a wedding album made out of walnut for our anniversary. I never thought such a thing was possible to be made out of wood. It came complete with a stand. It is something I will love and cherish forever.”
The company notes that they have access to all the major sports team logos, including college teams, so a personalized gift with their favorite teams is something that is definitely something to consider for sports fans. In addition, there are many instances of stock art that the CNC machine gives the company – everything from a cutthroat carp to a “flourish” of ribbons and so on.
