He was born on April 29, 1929, in Plain Grove, to John Campbell and Wilda B. Eppinger Eperthener.
Dick was a 65-plus-year member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. He was briefly affiliated with the Boy Scouts.
Dick was a self-employed master carpenter and farmer. Dick enjoyed working on his farm, gardening, and woodworking.
He loved spending time with his family and coming up with family projects like making apple butter, sauerkraut, and ice cream. He loved playing jokes and having the last laugh.
Dick married his wife, Ida Mae Snyder Eperthener, on July 10, 1954. She survives at the residence. Also surviving are his three children, Abbie Lynne (Daniel) Clark in Honey Grove; Marcia A. (Jeffrey) Colson in Transfer; and Edward R. (Diana) Eperthener in Mercer; and one sister, Jane Struthers in Mercer; his seven grandchildren, Capt. Seth (Sunny) Clark in Alabama; Miss Sarah Clark in Honey Grove; Joshua Colson in Arizona; Rachel Colson (Blake) Armitstead in New York; Matthew Colson in Transfer; Lucas Eperthener in Pittsburgh; and Erin Eperthener (Joe) Neff in New Hampshire. Dick was expecting his first great-grandchild this month.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents; infant son, William Jeffery Eperthener; one sister, Imogene Kloos; and one brother, Charles Dale Eperthener.
